THE EFFECTS OF CHILDHOOD CANCER ON A FAMILY
Imagine having your paycheck reduced or losing your job because of necessary time off work to care for your child who has cancer.  Now, imagine having to decide between purchasing their medications and paying your utility bill.  So many of our families are forced to make difficult decisions like these.  Everyday expenses become unmanageable, due to increased medical and out-of-pocket costs incurred as part of your child’s treatment for cancer. 

Families who live in northern Nevada and the eastern Sierra are forced to travel out of state to access treatment for their children, as there is no local pediatric oncology treatment center.  Travel expenses are significant and place an additional financial burden on families who are often experiencing lost work time and wages, due to the daily demands of caring for a child with cancer.
